The 5th annual Jack Luck tribute slalom opened up the 2014 Mobil1 Championship Series presented by Toyo Tires. Mother nature treated us to a great wind and rain free weekend, giving more then enough time for the 110 drivers to shake out the cobwebs, while getting 6 attempts at setting a fast time for the day. The course designers made full use of the venue, with all three runways in play and being used for the fast and flowing course, much time could be lost or gained out there.

The F-Modified 1990 kbs formula 500 of Ralf K set the fastest time of the day on Saturday, with a blistering time of 1:18.437, this was over 4 seconds faster then the next closest competitor, Mike A in his 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. Over on the indexed side the battle was much closer with Mike A on top with a factored time of 1:11.782 and Ralf K just over six tenths behind at a time of 1:12.475.

With over 627 runs on the day, marshal's and the timers were kept busy, with a penalty of some sort being called on more then a third of the runs for the day. 196 cones were killed on 149 runs, and we had 89 DNF's on the day.

Sunday brought out another great crowd of 86 competitors to enjoy the 16th Annual Judy Brunner Memorial Slalom. Weather again was perfect, lets hope this is a trend that will continue throughout the season. The chase for FTD had familiar names again at the top, Ralf K was quickest running the course backwards from the day before at a 1:14.936, Mike A was 2.3s back, with Paul K, Naresh D and Pawel M rounding out the top 5.

Mike A was again the fastest on the PAX index, with a time of 1:07.265, Val D was next in line at 1.399s behind, the race for third place was won by Ralf K, while fourth through sixth were separated by less then two tenths (Barry G, Peter L, Daniel F). Great job everyone.

People were having better luck finding their way around the course with only 48 DNF's almost a reduction of 50% over Saturday. The cones however weren't that lucky, with 148 of them falling over 110 runs.
